African Messiah

Tunde Jegede’s oratorio/operetta performed at the Royal Opera House in London during the Summer of 2012. Derek Richards (rizomorph) created projections,  set and lighting design and handled stage direction. Through careful synchronisation of lighting states with image projections onto a transparent surface across the front of the stage, performers are concealed and revealed . When images and performers are both visible, the performers are transported to new settings and/or joined by virtual characters. Thereby creating the sense of odyssey that underpins the libretto.
